What does Technical Availability mean?

The Technical Availability is the period of time for which a plant can produce without downtime. The time during which the irradiance is above the MIT is taken into account. Planned downtime, such as service calls and maintenance, is not taken into account.

Formula

...

  • TTotal = Total time in which the plant could produce (see also picture below).

  • TDown = Not planned time in which the production of the plant is down.

In numbers

Example:

  • Total downtime 5 hours.

Influence of planned downtime on availability

Factors that lead to planned downtimes are not applied in the calculation of technical availability (e.g. maintenance intervals). These are usually exactly regulated by contract. As a rule, these times do not lead to a reduction in the availability period (see picture).
